Tri-Lakes Christian Church

Friday, February 28th
Friday, March 6th

Go deeper into intimacy with God and with yourself.

Feel better in your body. Take care of your temple.

Breathe in LIFE, and Joy, and praising with our minds, our breath, our movement.

Meditate on His Word. Meditation in Motion.

Practice His Presence.

Practice resting in Him.

Folks have been loving this class, for not just the physical as well, but also the spiritual!

Things heard:

"My back didn't hurt anymore...

I slept better after class...

It was so worshipful...

Being a business in the Midwest, and being a business that is about honoring people's real lives...there are times when class cancellations may happen due to weather issues, emergency issues, health issues, etc.
We avoid cancelling as much as possible, but sometimes, it just has to happen based on those real life parameters.

So, for the benefit and info of all, here is the Vessels of Clay Yoga Cancellation Policy:

Winter Weather:
If local schools are closed for Winter Weather, our classes will be cancelled as well---ESPECIALLY in the case of morning classes.
If it is the odd situation where road conditions and weather were heinous only in the morning, but the sun shines high and bright throughout the day and road are declared clear by MODOT...

This series was designed primarily for those folks who have been wanting to try yoga, especially Christ-focused styles, but have been intimidated by the unknown of "what will happen when I show up? Will I be the only newbie? Will I feel silly or inept or ____?"

(Not just for beginners, but also good for anyone wanting to hone in on basics as well as teachers-in-training*)...

I totally get it. I do. And this series is born out of my desire to help those who have been telling me for YEARS that they want to get to a class, but something always gets in the way (which is especially easy if you have hesitations born out of subconscious "fear" or intimidation)---
and until you experience it for yourself, it is easy to let something like this slide, ri...

I have been asked this many times:

"can I lose weight doing yoga?"

Short answer is yes. Absolutely.

In fact, I lost about 6 lbs in a month or so when I first started way back in the early 2000's...and for someone who is only 5'1.5", that is LOT!

Like, A. LOT. A LOT ALOT A LOT.

(see p.s. at the bottom...)

But guess what...there are things you need to consider.

1-How a yoga practice can help you "lay aside the weight" (Hebrews 12:1)

2-Consistency/Frequency of Practice

3-Type or Style of Yoga being practiced

4-The season YOU are currently in, and how it is affecting you and how God created YOU

First things first:

One of the amazing things about yoga---and right now I am referring to the physical practice or Asana practice of yoga, not the other limbs of...

“Yoga Teacher, what Yoga video do you recommend?”

I hear this a lot. (less formally, of course)  and I love that people trust me to tell them what I might suggest.

I usually start off by asking if they have ever done any yoga, and if so, what kind? What are their goals? What are they hoping for in “doing” a yoga video?

This will by no means be an all-inclusive list of what is in my personal library or of what else I might recommend that I have tried, but might have slipped my mind…but these are the ones on the forefront! So, without further adieu, let’s get to it—the sooner we know, the sooner we get to our mats!

I will divide this up into Beginner, Advanced, and Specialty…

Note: Most yoga videos on the market use certain alignment principles that ar...

Have you ever lost anything and wondered if it might ever come back to you? Have you ever asked God to return it? Have you ever felt lost yourself...like, in a MAJOR way? Guess what--you are normal, and there are some cool things you can do...

*This is the first of group of posts "From the Archives" of my previous blog site.  Originally this post was entitled "Things I love, that lift my spirit, Part 1b, a.k.a. The Holy Spirit is a Crooner".  Yep. Long title.   It's also the 2nd part of the "Lost and Found" post series.

We interrupt your regularly scheduled blog post for something I just HAD to share…

I mentioned in a recent post about how music is one of the things that lifts my spirit…it is true in so many ways.

Music can make housework easier.  Music can prompt me to move my booty and work up a sweat, too!  Music helps me praise my Lord continually!  So often, if I turn on Praise music when I am down—

which in and of itself in those moments is a sheer act of the Holy Sp...

Happy Labor Day Weekend, ever'body!!!

In one of my devotional studies this year, God revealed to me that our true "labor" should be laboring to enter into His rest. The rest that He provided through the finished work of Jesus on the Cross. And did you know that before Jesus went to the Cross, He bequeathed to you and I who follow and believe Him, HIS Shalom?

Shalom in Hebrew is not just a greeting like Ciao, or Aloha...its meaning goes deeper.

It means Welfare/Well-being, Health, Prosperity, and yes, Peace!

So He said, in effect, I am leaving you all of THAT. That is your inheritance upon my death...so do not let your heart be troubled, and do not be afraid!

(Hebrews 4:11, John 14:27)

So maybe this holiday weekend, I invite you to take a mome...
