Faith Flow (Vinyasa)- Beginner to Intermediate:

All levels are welcome (yes, sweet beginner, that means you!), but participants must* be comfortable with moving from floor to standing and back again...this is a flow class, meaning that we move from asana to asana (pose to pose) on the breath...there are some long holds in asana, but this class "flows"....

Christian Yoga: is it ok, or not?

I get this question a LOT. Or, I have folks asking me for insight about it. *Recently, another friend asked me to watch a video she had just seen on a news program, about an article written against yoga as Christians, and I thought: “why have I not shared this in a public post, rather than just one-by-one incidences?” This is taken from that latest interaction*…

(*Note: this post falls under the "From the Archives" category, meaning it is a slightly updated post from a few years ago on a previous blog of mine, that I find to have been well-received and worth repeating!  May God's Truth continue to ring out...)

So as you can guess, I could write a NOVEL on this topic, being that I:

1- am a yoga teacher,

2- live in th...

I have been asked this many times:

"can I lose weight doing yoga?"

Short answer is yes. Absolutely.

In fact, I lost about 6 lbs in a month or so when I first started way back in the early 2000's...and for someone who is only 5'1.5", that is LOT!

Like, A. LOT. A LOT ALOT A LOT.

(see p.s. at the bottom...)

But guess what...there are things you need to consider.

1-How a yoga practice can help you "lay aside the weight" (Hebrews 12:1)

2-Consistency/Frequency of Practice

3-Type or Style of Yoga being practiced

4-The season YOU are currently in, and how it is affecting you and how God created YOU

First things first:

One of the amazing things about yoga---and right now I am referring to the physical practice or Asana practice of yoga, not the other limbs of...

It's just one of those things that needs to be shared every now and again. I mean, you don't know unless someone shares with you, right? I certainly didn't when I started my yoga practice. Once in awhile, it deserves a re-share.

Here is a list of things that I find important to practice in your public yoga practice:

1. Be on time, which really means, be 5 to 10 minutes early. This gives you time to be settled and quiet, ready to focus, as well as helping you not to disturb someone else's pre-class quiet time. We are a community, after all. ❤ besides- it is never fun being the one rushing around stressed while everyone else is already zenning out...

2. That getting settled/quiet time? That means gathering all props you might need & having...

“Yoga Teacher, what Yoga video do you recommend?”

I hear this a lot. (less formally, of course)  and I love that people trust me to tell them what I might suggest.

I usually start off by asking if they have ever done any yoga, and if so, what kind? What are their goals? What are they hoping for in “doing” a yoga video?

This will by no means be an all-inclusive list of what is in my personal library or of what else I might recommend that I have tried, but might have slipped my mind…but these are the ones on the forefront! So, without further adieu, let’s get to it—the sooner we know, the sooner we get to our mats!

I will divide this up into Beginner, Advanced, and Specialty…

Note: Most yoga videos on the market use certain alignment principles that ar...

Have you ever lost anything and wondered if it might ever come back to you? Have you ever asked God to return it? Have you ever felt lost yourself...like, in a MAJOR way? Guess what--you are normal, and there are some cool things you can do...
